North Dakota health officials are investigating a death linked to recalled microdosing candies, specifically Prophet Premium Blends Diamond Shruumz products. The FDA issued a recall on June 28 after reports of illnesses and hospitalizations in 24 states, with North Dakota being the only state investigating a death. The products, containing a proprietary blend of mushrooms, have been linked to severe symptoms such as seizures, loss of consciousness, and abnormal heart rates.
The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services is warning the public that the recalled products may still be available for sale online or in stores that sell hemp-derived products. While the products are not illegal in North Dakota, they are not licensed or regulated by the state. The death of the individual who consumed the product is currently under investigation.
Symptoms of poisoning from the products include confusion, sleepiness, high or low blood pressure, nausea, and vomiting. Anyone who suspects poisoning should contact the Poison Center at 800-222-1222. North Dakota health officials are urging the public to be cautious and avoid consuming any recalled Prophet Premium Blends Diamond Shruumz products.
