Report on Trump campaign incident at Arlington cemetery released by Army

The U.S. Army recently released a heavily redacted police report detailing an incident in August where a Trump campaign staffer allegedly pushed a worker at Arlington National Cemetery, described as a “simple assault.” The staffer used “both” hands while trying to move past the employee, who had tried to stop them from taking photos. Both names were redacted from the report, and the worker did not seek medical attention or press charges. The incident occurred as Trump was visiting the cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony commemorating fallen service members.

American Oversight, a government ethics group, sued to obtain the report, which the Army released after a judge ordered the Defense Department to do so. The campaign staffer denied elements of the incident, and an Army spokesperson said the matter was considered closed at the time. This incident has brought attention to Trump’s behavior on military issues, especially after former chief of staff John Kelly accused him of fascist tendencies and making inappropriate comments about fallen service members.

The incident at Arlington National Cemetery raised concerns about campaign activities and photography restrictions in restricted areas of military cemeteries. Although the army spokesperson said the matter was considered closed, the investigation remains open, and further information cannot be provided. Trump has denied making controversial remarks attributed to him by Kelly and The Atlantic.
