The South Dakota women’s basketball team secured their first win of the season and the first win for head coach Carrie Eighmey at South Dakota with a 74-50 victory over Bellevue. The game, played in front of over 1,300 elementary and middle school students, showcased standout performances from multiple Coyotes players. Carley Duffney recorded a career-high 23 points, while Alexi Hempe matched her career best with 18 points. Grace Larkins achieved her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Coral Mason also made her first start as a Coyote and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds. Coach Eighmey’s milestone win at South Dakota marks her 249th career coaching victory and breaks a five-game losing streak for the team. The game was part of the first Education Day hosted by the USD women’s basketball team, bringing K-8 students to the event for a memorable experience. With this win, South Dakota now stands at 1-4 for the season and 1-2 in home games. They are now 4-0 against Bellevue. The team looks to continue their success as they face NC Central next on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
