Fighting Hawks Face Off Against LMU in Friday Night Matchup in Los Angeles

North Dakota men’s basketball team is set to face off against Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles on Friday night. This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with LMU leading the series 1-0. North Dakota comes off a commendable effort against Notre Dame, where they trailed by seven points at halftime in a 75-58 loss.

The Hawks are currently on a five-game road trip, with Friday’s game marking the first time they will play in each of the four time zones in the continental US before December. This matchup against LMU is also the first stage of the Cancun Challenge, where UND will head to Mexico for two more games.

Leading the way for North Dakota is Treysen Eaglestaff, who recently earned the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week award for his outstanding performance. The team’s perimeter defense has been stellar, holding opponents to just 18.8% from beyond the arc, the best in the country.

On the other hand, LMU enters the matchup with a 1-2 record, led by fifth-year head coach Stan Johnson. Jevon Porter and Will Johnston are key players to watch for the Lions. LMU ranks inside the top 100 in several statistical categories nationally, including free throw percentage and three-point attempts.

A win for North Dakota would push them above .500, even the series standing with LMU, and mark a significant milestone for head coach Paul Sather. Fans can follow the action live on KSNR 100.3 FM The Cat or ESPN+.
