A Georgia woman, Leilani Simon, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for the killing of her 20-month-old son, Quinton Simon. Quinton was reported missing in 2022, leading to a large search until his remains were found in a landfill. Simon was convicted of murder last month and was sentenced by Chatham County Judge Tammy Stokes. The judge acknowledged the impact of Quinton’s life and death on the community. Simon had reported her son missing from their home near Savannah, and authorities soon suspected foul play. Quinton’s body was found in a landfill five weeks after he went missing. Simon was arrested in November 2022 and indicted the following month on charges including malice murder and concealing the death of another. A jury convicted her of multiple charges related to Quinton’s death. Simon stood silently as the sentence was read, showing apparent acknowledgment. Before concluding the hearing, Judge Stokes wished for peace.
