Hopkins High School basketball player and Mr. Basketball finalist Anthony Smith III officially committed to the University of North Dakota on Wednesday. Smith finished his high school career with nearly 2,000 points and impressive statistics including 24.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. He shot 42 percent from behind the arc. Smith III will be joining North Dakota’s recruiting class alongside St. Louis Park twins Marley and Micah Curtis. North Dakota coach Paul Sather expressed excitement about Smith’s commitment, praising his skills, competitiveness, and ability to impact both offense and defense. North Dakota is part of the Summit League, which also includes St. Thomas. Smith’s signing ceremony at Hopkins high school was covered by KSTP Sports, where he expressed his thoughts on heading to Grand Forks.
