21-year-old Missouri State football standout Todric McGee passes away


Missouri State University football player Todric McGee, 21, tragically passed away early Saturday from a possible accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police responded to a wellness check at his home on Friday morning and found him with serious injuries. He was then transported to the hospital, where he later died. McGee was a starting safety for the Bears and had earned all-conference honors in 2023. University officials and his coach, Ryan Beard, expressed shock and sadness over his death, asking for privacy and prayers for his family and teammates. McGee, originally from Wichita, Kansas, had been entering his fifth season with the team and was well-regarded by his coaches and peers. The Springfield Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. The football community and the university community are mourning the loss of a talented and beloved player.
