Transit police in Boston are investigating a shooting on a subway platform at Harvard University. The incident prompted the school to issue a shelter-in-place order for students and staff and reroute passengers on part of the city’s subway system to shuttle buses. The suspect, armed with a gun, fired four to five rounds at a targeted individual on the southbound platform at the Harvard Square station before fleeing. There were no reported injuries from the incident. Police were alerted to the report of shots fired around 2:15 p.m. and a message was sent to the Harvard community to shelter inside buildings until further notice while police searched the area around the station near the school’s main campus in Cambridge. The message has since been removed.
