Grand style win for Jackrabbits over NWC

The South Dakota State baseball team had a dominating 20-1 victory over Northwestern (Iowa) on Tuesday afternoon, setting season highs in runs and hits. Luke Luskey had a standout performance, hitting two home runs in an 11-run fourth inning and recording a career-high eight RBIs in the game. The Jackrabbits improved to 9-26 on the season.

Pitcher Sam Schlecht struck out eight batters over five innings, while Alex Clemons closed out the game with three strikeouts over two perfect innings. Northwestern’s lone run came in the first inning.

The Jackrabbits will now face Creighton in a Wednesday night matchup in Sioux Falls. Some notable achievements from the game include SDSU hitting two grand slams, Luskey becoming the first player to hit two home runs in the same inning in the team’s Division I era, and Bellows recording three hits, all for extra bases.

The victory marks SDSU’s eighth consecutive win against Northwestern since the series started in 1991.
