BROOKINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – South Dakota State (SDSU) and Omaha squared off in a thrilling Summit League doubleheader at Jerald T. Moriarty Field on Saturday, April 26, splitting the two games. SDSU clinched the opener, winning 7-6, while Omaha responded with a nail-biting 9-8 victory in the nightcap.

In Game One, Abby Gentry dominated with a three-run homer, and Tayler Baker delivered a commendable pitching performance, securing her first complete game with seven innings pitched. After trailing, SDSU rallied with a four-run fourth inning, capitalizing on four singles to retake the lead. Gentry led the offense with four RBIs, while Baker improved her season record to 7-5.

Game Two saw Omaha leap to a commanding 9-0 lead, but SDSU mounted a strong comeback. A three-run homer from Brooke Dumont ignited the rally, with the Jackrabbits narrowing the gap to 9-8 in the final inning. Despite their efforts, SDSU fell just short as Omaha secured the win.

With a season record of 25-24 and 10-5 in conference play, SDSU prepares for a final road series against North Dakota on May 2-3. Omaha, boasting a record of 35-10 and the top seed in the upcoming Summit League Championship, continues to thrive this season.
