North Dakota Secures Three Transfers for Upcoming Season

Press Release

University of North Dakota Welcomes New Hockey Talents for 2025-26 Season

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota’s head hockey coach, Dane Jackson, has announced the signing of three promising athletes—forwards Ellis Rickwood and Isaac Gordon, and goaltender Zach Sandy. These players will bring their talents to the Fighting Hawks for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Coach Jackson expressed enthusiasm about the new recruits: "I’m excited to bring this group into our program. Each player offers a unique skillset that will enhance our depth and make an immediate impact."

Ellis Rickwood, a standout from Clarkson, demonstrated significant growth during his junior year in 2024-25. He scored 10 goals and registered 35 points in 39 games, securing All-ECAC honors. Known for his prowess in faceoffs, Rickwood ranked in the top 10 nationally with a remarkable 57.5% win rate. Over his career, he has tallied 14 goals and 35 assists for a total of 49 points in 96 games, retaining one year of eligibility.

Joining him is Isaac Gordon, who shone during his tenure at Michigan Tech. Winning CCHA Rookie of the Year honors and All-CCHA Second Team recognition, Gordon amassed 36 points in his first collegiate season and continued his strong performance with an additional 26 points in his second year. With 53 points from 23 goals and 30 assists in 68 games, he has two years of eligibility remaining.

Lastly, goaltender Zach Sandy returns to his roots in North Dakota after spending three seasons at Minnesota Duluth. Although he served primarily as a backup, Sandy made strides last year, notably achieving 25 saves in a close matchup against Arizona State. His prep career includes leading Fargo South/Shanley to a state championship appearance.

The trio will be available for Zoom interviews later in May. For further updates, follow North Dakota hockey on social media @UNDmhockey or visit FightingHawks.com.
