South Dakota State Women’s Golf Team Shines in Summit League Championship Opening Round
MESA, Ariz. – The South Dakota State University (SDSU) women’s golf team delivered a strong performance in the first round of the Summit League Championship, securing second place with a team score of 296 (+12). The Jackrabbits were propelled by impressive showings from a trio of golfers who ranked among the top ten individually.
Shakira-Ann Kuys led the charge, carding a 72 (+1) and tying for fourth place. Close behind her, teammates Piper Stubbs and McKenzie Mages both finished the round with scores of 73 (+2), placing them in a tie for eighth. Reese Jansa contributed to the team effort with a score of 78 (+7), landing her in a tie for 17th, while Molly O’Hara rounded out the group with an 80 (+9), putting her in 30th place.
As a team, SDSU demonstrated resilience, achieving par on 55 holes—ranking them second globally for this statistic during the round. They currently hold a narrow lead over North Dakota State by a single stroke and are two shots ahead of Oral Roberts. Denver sits firmly at the top of the leaderboard, boasting a ten-shot lead over SDSU.
Looking ahead, the Jackrabbits are set to tee off in the first group alongside Denver at 7 a.m. MST on Monday, with the second round scheduled for the same day and the championship concluding with the final round on Tuesday.
