Exciting Developments on North Dakota’s Enchanted Highway
Minot, ND – The iconic Enchanted Highway in southwestern North Dakota is set for new attractions, including a stunning 110-foot dragon and a 41-foot knight designed by renowned sculptor Gary Greff. Ted Uecker, board member of the Enchanted Highway Foundation, announced plans for a grand opening on July 4, 2026, coinciding with the launch of the Theodore Roosevelt Library in Medora. A story kiosk will enhance visitor engagement by narrating the lore behind these sculptures.
The Enchanted Highway Foundation aims to sustain this artistic legacy through partnerships and a financial goal of raising $500,000 for an endowment. New marketing strategies are also in the works, including revamped merchandise and an updated website.
At the annual North Dakota Travel Industry Conference held in Minot, industry experts highlighted trends in experiential travel, with 65% of travelers aged 18-34 prioritizing unique experiences over traditional landmarks. Digital marketer Carrie Tomlinson noted the shift toward cultural immersion and hands-on activities.
As tourism thrives, supported by state investments in new attractions like the Good Bear Bay Lodge, the industry remains a crucial part of North Dakota’s economy, generating $5.7 billion and supporting over 43,000 jobs.
