Obituary: Remembering Luann Letang of Dickinson
Luann Letang, 75, of Dickinson, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at her home on April 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family and friends will profoundly miss her warmth and laughter.
A gathering for loved ones will occur on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Born on June 13, 1949, to Robert F. Kadrmas and Edith Kostelecky, Luann grew up on a farm north of Dickinson with her three siblings. She married her high school sweetheart, Nicklas Letang, on January 31, 1969, and together they cultivated a loving home, nurturing their son, Christopher, and sharing countless moments immersed in nature.
A lifelong learner, Luann earned her undergraduate degree in science from Dickinson State College in 1971 and later pursued degrees in medical technology and microbiology at the University of North Dakota. Her passion for education translated into a teaching career at Dickinson High School and a 25-year tenure as head of the blood bank at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Talented in various crafts, Luann was an expert seamstress, quilter, and gardener, known for her legendary pies. Her empathy and ability to connect with others, especially her grandson Oliver, made her a cherished figure in the community. Notably, she saved her husband’s life with CPR during a medical emergency.
Luann is survived by her husband Nick; son Christopher and his wife Natasha; grandson Oliver; and siblings, among many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
