Bowman, who has no prior political experience, is an evangelical church founder and coffee shop owner. Despite the challenging odds in predominately Democratic Cincinnati, an upset victory for Bowman would mark another instance of a family member of a president or vice president holding office, following the precedent set by Mike Pence’s brother.

In addition to the mayoral race, Cincinnati voters approved State Issue 2, which reauthorizes a significant infrastructure program, providing $2.5 billion over the next decade for local projects.
