East Sussex, UK – A new lifestyle hotel and club brand, Crafted, will make its debut in late 2025 with the opening of Crafted at Powdermills. Founded by Chris King, co-founder of the Birch hotel concept, Crafted promises to deliver “life-friendly hotels and clubs, crafted by name, created by nature.”
Located on a picturesque seven-acre private lake, the hotel will be housed in a Georgian Grade II-listed country house, offering a unique blend of historic charm and modern luxuries. Crafted at Powdermills will feature 55 elegantly designed rooms and suites developed by House of Dré, alongside three additional cottages with kitchen and living space, including the Lake House, which boasts a private garden and outdoor pool.
In line with its ethos of reconnecting with nature, Crafted will provide a range of facilities, including a pub, restaurant, cocktail bar, craft barn, art studio, and a members club. Dining options will emphasize sustainability, with ambitious plans to source 75% of its ingredients from British suppliers. An executive chef will oversee the menu, with offerings from an outdoor open grill and a wood-fired pizza oven.
Guests can also engage in various creative pursuits at the Craft Barn and Art Studio, participating in activities like ceramics and printmaking.
Chris King envisions Crafted at Powdermills as the first of many locations, stating, “Over the coming years, Crafted will evolve into a network of life-friendly hotels and clubs across the UK and beyond, each unique to its setting but sharing a common spirit: nature-first, creatively charged, and thoughtfully designed for modern living.”
