Fargo, N.D. – North Dakota’s Track & Field teams excelled at the NDSU Tune-Up, securing eight event victories and achieving seven all-time program improvements at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.
Ethan Thomas led the Fighting Hawks, winning titles in both the discus (181-2, 55.24m) and javelin (190-7, 58.11m), elevating his discus mark to the second-best in UND history and placing him 48th in the NCAA West Region. Justina Esangbedo also shone, claiming victory in the women’s javelin with a throw of 131-3 (40.02m).
On the track, Malene Kollberg set a personal record of 13.63 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, moving into a tie for second on the UND all-time list, while teammate Tiffanie Magnusson clocked a PR of 14.45. Marta Marksa (400m hurdles) and Brooklyn Brouse (800m) also secured victories, with Brouse finishing at 2:14.68.
The meet concluded with the 4×400-meter relay team winning in 3:16.50, ranking seventh in program history. Other notable achievements included personal bests from Emily Ash in pole vault and Cruz Megazzini in the 200 meters.
The Fighting Hawks will next compete at the Summit League Outdoor Championships from May 15-17 in Vermillion.
