Law Enforcement Torch Run Kicks Off in North Dakota to Support Special Olympics
N.D. (Valley News Live) – Starting Monday, law enforcement officers across North Dakota will join the Law Enforcement Torch Run, an event dedicated to promoting and raising funds for Special Olympics North Dakota. The run, which takes place through Friday, will span multiple communities, including Grand Forks, Jamestown, Bismarck, Minot, Stanley, Portal, and Williston.
Since its inception in 1985, the Torch Run has engaged over 400 officers annually, who serve as the “Guardians of the Flame,” embodying the spirit of partnership and prosperity for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The event is designed to not only raise awareness but also to ignite the hopes of the more than 1,100 athletes participating in the 11 sports offered each year.
The “Flame of Hope” symbolizes the mission of inclusivity and support, fostering a community spirit that uplifts and empowers. Law enforcement’s commitment to this cause reinforces the vital link between public safety and community service. Participants and supporters are encouraged to join the run and celebrate the achievements of these inspiring athletes.
