South Dakota State Honors Outstanding Senior Athletes for 2024-25
South Dakota State University (SDSU) recently recognized five exemplary student-athletes with the Outstanding Jackrabbit Senior Athlete Award for the 2024-25 academic year. This year’s honorees include Cade DeVos, Brielle Dixon, Mark Gronowski, Mia Jarecki, and Paige Meyer, each leaving a significant mark on their respective sports.
Cade DeVos, a dual graduate with a doctorate in pharmacy, excelled in wrestling, becoming a two-time All-American and a Big 12 champion. The Altoona, Iowa native also earned five Scholar All-American designations.
Brielle Dixon made her mark in women’s track and field, becoming a six-time all-conference performer. She set school records in the 60-meter and 100-meter hurdles and has qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries twice.
Mark Gronowski, the Jackrabbits’ standout quarterback, achieved a legendary status in FCS history with a record of 49-6, leading SDSU to three national championship games and winning two. He garnered the Walter Payton Award in 2023 and finished his career with impressive passing and rushing stats while earning his degree in mechanical engineering.
Mia Jarecki, a standout in softball, concluded her Jackrabbit tenure as the program’s all-time leader in runs scored and was named The Summit League Player of the Year in 2024. She earned multiple All-Summit League honors and graduated with a degree in exercise science.
Paige Meyer, a pivotal player in women’s basketball, became a four-time All-Summit League selection, contributing to three NCAA Tournament appearances. She finished her career ranking high in several statistical categories while also earning her business degree.
Additionally, 18 senior athletes received Impact Awards in various sports, and four student-athletes were honored with the Jackrabbit Scholar-Athlete Award for achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs. The accolades highlight SDSU’s commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
