Coyotes’ New Offensive Coordinator Discusses Tight End Prospects for 2025 Season
VERMILLION, S.D. — Tim Morrison has been appointed the Scott & Lisa Jones Family Offensive Coordinator for the South Dakota Coyotes and will also continue mentoring the tight end group. With the 2025 season approaching, Morrison shared insights into the tight ends during a recent interview.
The tight end roster includes Zach Witte (6-6, 260), Jesse Miller (6-6, 250), Mason Cowgill (6-4, 225), and Caden Frey (6-6, 235). Morrison expressed enthusiasm regarding his transition to offensive coordinator, noting, "Our foundation remains the same but with our own spin." He highlighted the tight end group’s strong spring performance, emphasizing their adaptability to new terminology and an eagerness to elevate their roles.
Witte, a redshirt senior, has extensive experience, having played nearly every game in the past two seasons. Morrison praised his improvement in route running and his leadership within the team. Miller, a redshirt sophomore, gained valuable playing time last season and has physically developed, making him a reliable option moving forward.
Cowgill and Frey, both redshirt freshmen, have also made strides during spring training. Morrison noted Cowgill’s dedication and hard work, while praising Frey’s athleticism and his evolving understanding of the tight end role.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Morrison is excited about the potential of the tight end group despite losing All-American JJ Galbreath. "Every player is eager to step up. The challenge is identifying their roles," he said. The team’s commitment to maintaining high performance levels signals a promising future for Coyotes football.
