FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Ervin Leo St. Claire Jr., 44, has been sentenced to 175 months in prison for possessing over 1,200 images depicting the sexual exploitation of children. Chief Judge Peter Welte delivered the sentence following a conviction stemming from St. Claire Jr.’s possession of 1,285 exploitative images between February and March of 2024.

Both the prosecution and defense agreed that a 140-month sentence was appropriate, with the legal minimum set at 10 years and the maximum at 20 years. St. Claire Jr. has a disturbing history of sexual offenses, including a 2009 conviction for Gross Sexual Imposition involving two young girls aged four and five, as well as a 2008 conviction for Abusive Sexual Contact against an eight-year-old.

During the sentencing, St. Claire Jr. expressed remorse, stating he wished to apologize to his victims. In addition to his prison sentence, he has been mandated to participate in sex offender management programs while incarcerated. The case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and ensure accountability for offenders.
