South Dakota State Promotes Sadie Thramer to Associate Head Coach
BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State University women’s basketball program has officially promoted Sadie Thramer to associate head coach, a move celebrated by head coach Aaron Johnston. "Sadie has been an integral member of our program… her elevation is a reflection of her dedication to the Jackrabbits and our sustained success," said Johnston.
Thramer has served on the SDSU coaching staff for four seasons, contributing to a remarkable team record of 115-25, the most successful four-year stretch in Jackrabbit history. Under her guidance, SDSU has claimed seven Summit League titles, gone undefeated against Summit League opponents for three consecutive seasons, and made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a significant victory over No. 7 Oklahoma State this past season.
Expressing her excitement for the new position, Thramer commented, "I am so excited to take on an elevated role with a program I love so much… I’m very appreciative of Coach Johnston, Athletic Director Justin Sell, and President Barry Dunn for their leadership and investment in women’s basketball here at South Dakota State."
In her new role, Thramer will continue to work closely with the team’s post players, including standout Brooklyn Meyer, who earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2025 and led the Jackrabbits with an impressive 17 points per game. Thramer also serves as the recruiting coordinator for the program, which is coming off a remarkable season that concluded with a 30-4 record and a national ranking of 23rd.
Thramer, who has previous coaching experience at Kansas State and Omaha, resides in Brookings with her husband, Phil, and their two sons, Bennett and Cal.
