Omaha, NE – The Oral Roberts University baseball team faced a heartbreaking defeat in the Summit League Baseball Championship title game on Saturday afternoon, succumbing to North Dakota State (NDSU) in a tightly contested matchup, 4-2.
After dropping a game earlier in the tournament to NDSU, the Golden Eagles rebounded in a must-win game one, prevailing 3-1. Key plays included an early run by Cooper Combs and a fourth-inning sacrifice fly from Ethan Fender, followed by Combs’s solo home run that sealed the victory and forced a decisive game two.
The championship finale began with both teams held scoreless until NDSU broke through with two runs in the third inning. Jack Schark responded for Oral Roberts, narrowing the gap to 2-1. NDSU countered with another run, extending their lead to 3-1. Despite the Golden Eagles’ efforts, including a run in the sixth, NDSU secured their championship with a final score of 4-2.
Coach Ryan Folmar made history, becoming the winningest coach in Summit League history with 380 conference victories. The Golden Eagles conclude their season with an impressive 37-22 record, marking yet another successful tournament appearance.
