New Mexico Expands Tech Sector with Advisory Board Initiative
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) is actively recruiting members for a new Technology and Innovation Network Advisory Board, established to bolster the state’s burgeoning technology and innovation sectors. This initiative, authorized by House Bill 20 and signed into law by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham on April 9, aims to shape the future landscape of the state’s tech economy.
The newly formed advisory board will play a pivotal role in guiding strategic planning within the EDD’s Technology and Innovation Division. Key responsibilities will include providing actionable recommendations, fostering engagement between the state and private sectors, and assisting in the administration of the Research, Development, and Deployment Fund.
EDD is looking for representatives with diverse backgrounds, including skilled tradespeople, economic development professionals, Indigenous community members, and experts from various industries, such as venture capital, bioscience, clean energy, aerospace, and advanced computing. The board will convene quarterly, and members are expected to actively participate in relevant subcommittees. Their work is anticipated to commence by September 1, 2025.
Board appointments will be made by EDD Cabinet Secretary Rob Black, and interested individuals can submit their applications online until June 30. The state is particularly interested in representatives from skilled trades associations, regional economic development organizations, and industry alliance members in technology-related sectors with a minimum of five years of experience.
The EDD is committed to enhancing the lives of New Mexico families through increased economic opportunities and a conducive environment for business growth, aiming to create a thriving economy across all communities.
