Press Release: UND Athletics Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2025

GRAND FORKS – The University of North Dakota (UND) Letterwinners Association, alongside athletic director Bill Chaves, has announced the honorees for the UND Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The elite group will be celebrated at a dinner and induction ceremony on September 19 at the Alerus Center.

The Class of 2025 features distinguished athletes from various sports, including Rob Stiles (wrestling/men’s golf), Mark Murdock (track & field), Dave Hudson (hockey), Jodie (Schwartz) Jones (swimming & diving), Liz (Kaler) Olson (golf), Randy Harles and Kelly Howe (football), and Theresa LeCuyer (women’s basketball). Notably, the inductees will include the remarkable 2000-01 women’s basketball team, which reached the NCAA Division II national championship game.

In addition to the athlete honors, Forrest Flaagan, a renowned South Dakota high school cross country coach, will receive the Tom Clifford Award, recognizing significant contributions to UND athletics. The Mikkelson family—Dan, Jolene, and Tommy—will also be honored with the Honorary Letterwinner Award for their unwavering support over the years.

Highlighting some of the accomplishments: Harles, a formidable defensive force, totaled 13.5 sacks during his tenure, while Howe stands as a record-holder with 17 interceptions. Hudson, the youngest captain in men’s hockey history, played in the NHL, amassing 183 points. Schwartz earned 11 All-American honors in swimming, and LeCuyer was recognized as the WBCA National Division II Player of the Year.

The induction ceremony marks the 50th anniversary of the Athletics Hall of Fame at UND, with the honorees also being celebrated during a halftime ceremony at the UND football game against Valparaiso on September 20. This gala event promises to honor the indelible contributions of these athletes to North Dakota’s rich athletic legacy.
