Finley, N.D. Celebrates Unique Graduation – One Student, One Ceremony
FINLEY, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Sunday, May 25, marked an unusual graduation at Finley-Sharon Public School, featuring only one graduate: Bryson Kirk. The high school senior expressed his appreciation for the small classroom environment, reflecting, "It’s kind of cool. I like the small classroom size." Bryson, who collaborated with younger students throughout his education, has been supported by his mother, Penny Kirk. She remarked, "It was just obvious he would go to school here," and added, "I’m proud that he’s the only one."
Initially, Bryson shared his grade with another student, but after the other student dropped out, he became the sole graduate. Faculty members at the school echoed the sentiment that having Bryson in attendance was a pleasure. In a touching ceremony, Bryson received his diploma from his mother, creating a memorable moment.
Looking ahead, Bryson plans to work as a mechanic at Finley Motor Sports, having gained valuable skills from his classes. This graduation serves as a testament to the sense of community and personalized education that small schools can provide.
