Rio Rancho Police Embrace New Technology for Enhanced Public Safety
Rio Rancho, N.M. – October 15, 2023 – The Rio Rancho Police Department is stepping into the future by adopting new public safety technology, aimed at improving efficiency and officer safety. The department has partnered with Mark43, a technology provider that specializes in computer-aided dispatch and records management systems, currently serving six departments across New Mexico.
According to Police Captain Jacquelynn Reedy, this advanced system streamlines operations significantly. "It allows call information to automatically integrate into report documentation," she explained. This feature minimizes the time officers spend on paperwork, enabling them to focus on critical situations. Detectives will benefit from the technology as well, with improved capabilities for linking cases and preparing case packets for the district attorney.
In high-pressure environments, access to accurate and timely information is crucial. The new system provides enhanced GPS and location data, augmenting the decision-making process in real-time. "An informed officer leads to better outcomes,” Reedy stated, emphasizing the dual focus on community safety and officer welfare.
The cloud-based nature of Mark43’s technology also permits officers to access real-time information from mobile devices, eliminating the need to be tethered to a desktop. This is particularly advantageous during meetings or when local networks may experience outages, ensuring continuous connectivity.
With these advancements, the Rio Rancho Police Department is not only enhancing its operational capabilities but also reinforcing collaboration with other New Mexico law enforcement agencies. As technology evolves, the department remains committed to adopting innovations that better serve the community and support its officers in their mission to maintain public safety.
