Arkansas to Face North Dakota State in Tournament Opener

Razorbacks Set for NCAA Regional in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas baseball team confidently awaited the announcement during the NCAA Tournament selection show, ultimately securing the No. 3 overall seed in the 64-team bracket. For the third consecutive year, the Razorbacks will host a regional in Fayetteville, with the added bonus of having a chance to host super regionals if they advance.

Coach Dave Van Horn expressed his team’s calm excitement, eager to kick off the tournament. The Fayetteville Regional features a double-elimination format with four teams: North Dakota State (No. 4 seed), Creighton (No. 3 seed), and Kansas (No. 2 seed). Arkansas will play North Dakota State at 2 p.m. on Friday at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Van Horn appreciated the early game slot, minimizing potential delays. Arkansas, with a home record of 32-4 this season, has struggled in past years to exit their home regional. The Razorbacks will face tough competition, including Creighton (41-14) and Kansas (43-15), both boasting impressive road records.

North Dakota State clinched their regional spot after winning the Summit League Tournament, while Creighton swept the Big East. Arkansas looks to capitalize on their strong home advantage as they aim for a deeper postseason run.
