Five Summit League Women’s Golfers Earn Academic Honors
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League has recognized five outstanding student-athletes for their academic excellence and athletic prowess, with South Dakota State’s Shakira-Ann Kuys and McKenzie Mages highlighting the 2025 Golf Academic All-Summit League team, announced Thursday.
Shakira-Ann Kuys, who graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA in psychology, is celebrated as the 2025 Summit League Women’s Golf Scholar of the Championship, marking her first-time accolade in this prestigious category. McKenzie Mages, also from South Dakota State and holding a 4.0 GPA in communication studies, has been honored for the second consecutive year.
To qualify for the Academic All-League team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, have completed one full academic year at their institution, and participated in at least half of their team’s competitions. Nominations came from sports information directors across the Summit League’s eleven institutions, followed by a voting process that involved both SIDs and faculty athletic representatives (FARs). The team comprises the five student-athletes receiving the highest votes.
Included in this year’s distinguished roster are:
- Emma Bryant (Denver) – Sr., Aurora, Colo., 3.96 GPA in Marketing
- Madi Hicks (North Dakota State) – So., Victoria, Minn., 4.0 GPA in Management Information Systems
- Emily Karmazin (Omaha) – Jr., Omaha, Neb., 4.0 GPA in Biomechanics
