Kelby Timmons Named to Fill Vacant House Seat in North Dakota
BISMARCK — The District 26 Republicans have appointed Kelby Timmons of Watford City to replace Representative Jeremy Olson, who resigned unexpectedly following a harassment complaint. Timmons, who previously served alongside Olson during the 2023 legislative session, was chosen on May 24, 2025.
Having secured a two-year seat in the 2022 elections, Timmons narrowly lost the 2024 Republican primary to Roger Maki by just 13 votes. He will now serve alongside Maki in the upcoming 2027 legislative session. The District 26 seats are set for reelection in 2028.
Patsy Levang, chair of the District 26 Republicans, praised Timmons for his proven record and strong conservative beliefs, emphasizing his commitment to local control. Olson, who served as the top vote-getter for the two House seats in District 26, resigned on May 5. The harassment complaint against him was subsequently withdrawn after his resignation.
Timmons’ appointment marks a significant moment for District 26 Republicans as they prepare for future legislative challenges and the upcoming election cycle.
