South Dakota State Wrestlers Gear Up for U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals
GENEVA, Ohio – Twenty-one wrestlers from South Dakota State University (SDSU) are set to showcase their skills at the U20 World Team Trials and U23 U.S. Nationals this weekend, taking place at the SPIRE Institute. The competition will run from Friday, May 30, to Sunday, June 1, with live coverage available on FloWrestling.org.
The SDSU contingent includes teams competing in both Greco-Roman and freestyle categories across various age divisions. Notable competitors include Quin Morgan, who is coming off a championship win in Greco-Roman at the US Open at 97 kg. Morgan will face off against the winner of the U20 World Team Trials for a chance to claim a spot on the U.S. World Championships Team.
Other standout athletes include Riggin Boger, who finished fifth at the US Open in Greco-Roman at 77kg. He aims to secure a showdown with Leister Bowling IV for a place on the World Championships roster. Brady Roark, who placed seventh in the senior freestyle division at the US Open, will compete at 61kg in the U23 Nationals following an upward weight adjustment.
Cael Swensen, returning from a year-long injury hiatus, is also a key contender at the U23 Nationals after a strong previous performance, where he secured second place. He will face tough competition, including last year’s All-American Matty Bianchi.
Competition starts each day at different times, with preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds scheduled throughout the weekend. Fans and supporters can follow the progress of the Jackrabbit wrestlers as they aim for national glory.
