In Loving Memory of Mary K. Berger: A Life Filled with Love and Resilience

Mary K. Berger, 71, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a loving legacy that spans from North Dakota to Florida. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on June 13, 2025, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Hazen, ND, officiated by Fr. Tom Grafsgaard. Visitation will begin an hour before the service, followed by a private family burial.

Born on January 3, 1954, in Dickinson, ND, Mary navigated life’s challenges early on, losing her mother at 15. She graduated from Dickinson High School in 1972 and initially pursued college before shifting her focus to life in Seattle. As a single mother to her daughter, Richelle, Mary thrived in the hospitality industry, building a successful career while supporting her daughter’s interests.

In 1995, she married Darrell Berger, embarking on new adventures that included cherished lake life and travel. Together, they created a blended family filled with love. A culinary enthusiast, Mary became known for her delicious walleye dishes and festive Bloody Mary Bar during family gatherings.

Despite a cancer diagnosis in 2020, Mary demonstrated remarkable strength, using her experience to inspire those around her. She is survived by her husband, daughter, blended family, grandchildren, and two sisters. In a farewell reflecting her gentle spirit, the family asks friends to honor Mary by donating to a cherished charity instead of sending flowers.

Mary’s final wish resonates: “Miss me a little but let me go.” Her vibrant spirit and dedication to family and community will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to shine brightly. Arrangements are being handled by Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen and Beulah.
