Local Teams Shine in Spring State Tournaments in Fargo and Grand Forks
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The excitement of spring state tournaments kicked off Thursday in Fargo and Grand Forks, with local teams making significant strides toward championship glory.
In Class B baseball, the 2-seeded Thompson, 3-seeded Northern Cass, and 4-seeded LLM teams triumphed in their quarterfinals, setting the stage for a riveting semifinal showdown. The Jaguars will face the three-time defending champions, the Tommies, at 4:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a match between the Loboes and Park River Area.
In Class B softball, Central Cass and Hillsboro-Central Valley also advanced to the semifinals, with HCV taking on Des Lacs Burlington at 4:00 p.m. Friday, while the Squirrels will duel with Beulah.
Shifting to Class A, Fargo South, Sheyenne, and Davies moved on to the semifinals in Grand Forks. The Bruins and Mustangs will clash at 4:30 p.m. Friday, with the Eagles competing against Minot shortly after.
In girls soccer, Red River and Davies both secured shutout victories to reach the semifinals. The Roughriders will face Mandan at 4:30 p.m., with the Eagles playing Minot at 6:45 p.m. Coverage of the state tournament continues Friday.
