North Dakota Launches Loan Program for Local Drinking Water Initiatives

Press Release: North Dakota Awards Loans for Drinking Water Improvements

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality, in collaboration with the North Dakota Public Finance Authority, has announced the allocation of six loans aimed at enhancing drinking water infrastructure across the state. These funds were distributed through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) program, which supports critical repairs and upgrades.

The largest single loan of $8.6 million has been awarded to the city of Hillsboro, where it will be used to expand the capacity of the local drinking water treatment plant. This vital funding will bolster Hillsboro’s ability to meet the needs of its residents.

Additionally, West Fargo has secured a $750,000 loan to replace aging water mains in the Westwood Addition, ensuring better service and reliability for its community. Other recipients include Mandan, which received two separate loans, as well as Portland and Surrey, each benefiting from the initiative to improve local water systems.

These investments reflect a commitment to maintaining safe and efficient drinking water supplies throughout North Dakota, fostering healthier communities as a result.
