40th Annual Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health to Honor Local Heroes

GRAND FORKS — The 40th Annual Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health will honor distinguished advocates at the Rural and Public Health Awards Banquet on June 18 at the Bismarck Event Center. The event kicks off at 11:50 a.m. and celebrates exceptional contributions to North Dakota’s rural health landscape.

Among this year’s awardees are Karen Andres, MD, recognized as the Emerging Rural Leader, and Alan O’Neil, CEO of Unity Medical Center, receiving the Outstanding Rural Health Career Award. Catherine Houle, MD, and volunteer Linda Conneran will also be honored for their dedicated service, alongside Legislator of the Year Jon Nelson. The event will highlight various award categories, including the Flex Quality Reporting Award and the Public Health Worker of the Year.

This year’s conference, a collaboration of key health organizations, provides a platform for healthcare professionals, educators, and students to engage in workshops, keynote presentations, and discussions focused on enhancing community health in North Dakota.
