MOUNTAIN VIEW, N.C. — A tragic shooting at a party in Catawba County early Sunday has left at least 12 individuals injured, with one confirmed dead. Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Walnut Acres Drive, not far from Highway 127.
According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, four victims are suffering from serious injuries, while one is in critical condition. The ages of those affected vary, but details regarding their identities have not been disclosed.
Witnesses described the gathering as a “pool party,” although law enforcement has yet to verify this information. Reports suggest that the shooting appeared random and primarily took place outdoors. Local authorities, including the Hickory Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, are actively working to determine the motive behind the incident and identify those responsible.
