North Dakota Colleges Urged to Review Health Policies Amid Measles Outbreak

North Dakota colleges are being urged to evaluate their health risk management and campus policies as the number of measles cases surges across the state. Recent reports from the Department of Health and Human Services confirm that Burke County is now among four counties facing confirmed cases, contributing to a total of 29 statewide. This marks the highest occurrence of measles since 1978. The latest developments also include additional exposure sites in Crosby, located in neighboring Divide County.
In light of the outbreak, the State Board of Higher Education convened to discuss the implications for educational institutions, particularly as they prepare for summer youth camps and tours for prospective students. Vice Chancellor Lisa Johnson emphasized the importance of proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all campus visitors. Institutions are encouraged to stay informed and implement appropriate health guidelines as they navigate this public health concern.
