West Fargo Sheyenne Claims 2023 Class A Baseball Championship

FARGO/GRAND FORKS — In a thrilling finale on Saturday at Kraft Field in Grand Forks, the West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs triumphed with a 6-5 victory over Minot to secure the North Dakota Class A baseball state championship. Sophomore Max Zenker was a standout performer, contributing two hits and three RBIs to propel his team to victory. The Mustangs, who have dominated with four championships in the last five years, built an early 5-0 lead and held off Minot’s last-minute rally.

Tate Herrmann and Jordan Clemenson also contributed significantly with two hits each, with Herrmann scoring three runs during the game. In the Class B championship held at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, the Thompson Tommies claimed victory with a score of 10-7 against LaMoure-Litchville-Marion. Senior Will Welke excelled for Thompson, achieving three hits and two RBIs. This marks their fourth consecutive state title, having faced LaMoure-Litchville-Marion in three of those finals.

Both teams celebrated their hard-fought victories, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of North Dakota high school baseball.
