Roundabout and Road Improvements Announced for Jamestown

Jamestown, ND — The North Dakota Department of Transportation has officially chosen a roundabout design for the U.S. Highway 52 and 10th Street Southeast intersection, as confirmed by Jamestown City Councilman David Steele during the council meeting on June 2. The project also includes the reconstruction of Business Loop West, which will feature a five-lane roadway equipped with a two-way left-turn lane.

Estimations for the roundabout project sit at approximately $9.2 million, while the five-lane road is budgeted around $6.5 million. In addition to the intersection upgrades, two bridges on Business Loop West will be replaced and 1st Avenue South will be restriped to enhance traffic flow and pedestrian safety, aligning with a broader Land Use and Transportation Plan aimed at improving public infrastructure in the area.

Construction is slated to commence in summer 2027. Meanwhile, the City Council has taken steps to list several city-owned properties for sale and approved the annexation of land for a new housing complex. They also addressed an ordinance proposal aimed at relaxing restrictions on keeping fowl within city limits, allowing up to eight chickens in residential areas.
