South Dakota Softball Stars Recognized for Academic Excellence
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The South Dakota Coyotes have made a remarkable mark in the academic arena of collegiate sports, with three of their softball players, Abi Brown, Autumn Iversen, and Tatum Villotta, earning spots on the 2025 Summit League Softball Academic All-League team. This accomplishment sets the Coyotes apart, as they led all conference teams with these three distinguished selections.
Sophomore Abi Brown, hailing from Bennington, Nebraska, showcased her prowess on the field by appearing in 47 games with a .327 batting average. She led the team with six home runs, amassing a total of 34 hits and 21 RBIs, including a nine-game hitting streak.
Classmate Autumn Iversen, from Wahoo, Nebraska, was also a formidable player, starting all 55 games. Her .283 batting average was complemented by 29 RBIs, 11 doubles, and 12 multi-hit games, including a seven-game hitting streak.
Senior Tatum Villotta from Blair, Nebraska, led the Coyotes with an impressive .370 average, contributing 70 hits and 23 RBIs over 56 games. With a remarkable 17-game hit streak, she also excelled in the base running department, leading the team with 12 stolen bases.
This recognition underscores the Coyotes’ consistent commitment to both athletic and academic excellence, marking the eighth consecutive year they have had representatives on the academic team. To qualify for the Academic All-League team, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.30 and participate in a majority of their team’s competitions.
