North Dakota Army National Guard Conducts Field Training for New Recruits
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – On Saturday, the North Dakota Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion held a crucial field training exercise at Kimball Bottoms, serving approximately 4,000 citizen soldiers and airmen. The training is designed to prepare recruits mentally and physically for their military careers ahead of basic training.
“This training is essential for ensuring soldiers are fit and ready to face any challenges,” stated Private First-Class Tyson Jorissen. Recruits engaged in obstacle course activities, including rope climbing and marching in formation, emphasizing physical readiness in various terrains. “It’s about being prepared for any environment,” added Specialist Osadolor.
Mental fitness remains equally vital, as recruits learn to effectively follow instructions—a critical skill in military operations. “This training will equip us to better understand what we’re being told,” remarked Private Johnathan Friedt.
The event was open to the public, allowing community members to engage with soldiers and gain insights into the training process. Such initiatives foster community support and promote greater awareness of the National Guard’s role in service readiness.
