Bison Secure Win Over South Dakota, Prepare for Summit League Tournament

Fargo, N.D. – The North Dakota State Bison men’s basketball team clinched a thrilling 82-78 victory against South Dakota on Wednesday night at the Scheels Center. This win marks a strong finish to the regular season, bringing NDSU’s overall record to 21-10 and their Summit League record to 10-6.

Sophomore Darik Dissette shone brightly, achieving his first career double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, including an impressive eight offensive boards. Senior Jacari White led the scoring with 20 points, while Tajavis Miller contributed a season-high 19 points, showcasing a balanced offensive effort from the Bison.

The game was a nail-biter, featuring 18 lead changes and 11 ties. NDSU initially surged ahead by nine points with just over 11 minutes left, but South Dakota rallied with a decisive 10-0 run to regain the lead. The Coyotes managed to establish a four-point advantage at 74-70 with three minutes remaining, but the Bison responded strongly. Dissette scored, followed by crucial free throws from White and a three-point play, propelling NDSU back into the lead.

Both teams showcased equal shooting prowess, hitting 27 of 62 shots (43.5 percent), but the Bison’s free throw performance was exceptional at 24 out of 29 (83 percent). Additionally, senior Masen Miller recorded a personal best with four steals, contributing to the defensive effort.

With this win, the Bison earned the No. 4 seed for the upcoming Summit League Tournament, setting up a rematch against the fifth-seeded Coyotes on Friday, March 7, at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. The exciting matchup is sure to be a highlight in the league’s postseason action.
