City of Minot’s Grass-Mowing Crews Operate Amid Spring Challenges
Minot, ND – The City of Minot’s grass-mowing crews are hard at work, recovering from delays caused by rainy weather and spring clean-up week. The Street Department, which comprises three full-time staff and 10 part-time seasonal workers, oversees the maintenance of approximately 459 acres across various city locations, including green spaces, right-of-ways, levees, and pump houses.
Public Works Operations Director Bryan Banfill emphasized their commitment to efficiently maintaining city properties, stating, “We want the public to know that we’ll get to all of our properties as quickly as we can, but it’s a time-consuming process.”
Residents are invited to report issues with tall grass on public or private properties by contacting the Public Works Department or using the myMinot app. Upon receiving a complaint, the city initiates an abatement process that may take up to two weeks, which involves notifying property owners and allowing time for compliance before undertaking maintenance themselves and billing the owner if necessary.
As mowing crews make progress, the city encourages patience and community engagement in maintaining Minot’s green spaces.
