North Dakota Track & Field Athletes Shine in Academics and Competitions

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Four student-athletes from the University of North Dakota’s track and field team have been honored with Outdoor Academic All-Summit League status, marking a notable achievement for both their academic and athletic performances.

Leading the group is Jadyn Keeler, who has made history as the first women’s distance runner from UND’s Division I program to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, set to take place Thursday. Keeler’s remarkable season include a school-record time of 32:06.70 in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational, which ranks her 17th on the NCAA all-time list and broke the Canadian U23 record.

Also recognized are Frida Giersdorff, who competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Preliminary, and Malene Kollberg, a heptathlon champion at the Summit League Outdoor Championships. Jory Vasek earned a silver medal in the 400 meters at the same event.

These athletes achieved impressive GPAs, with Keeler and Kollberg leading the pack, and are making significant contributions to both their sports and their academic fields. The standout performances underscore the dedication and talent within the Fighting Hawks track and field team as they head into national competition.
