Four Hawks Recognized as Outdoor Academic All-Summit League Honorees

North Dakota Track & Field Athletes Excel on and off the Field
Sioux Falls, S.D. – In a remarkable showcase of athletic prowess and academic excellence, four members of the North Dakota track and field team have been named to the Outdoor Academic All-Summit League Team. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.30, complete a full academic year at their institution, and compete in a minimum of half their team’s events.

Leading the pack is Jadyn Keeler, who is set to compete in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships following an outstanding season. Keeler’s stellar performance at the NCAA West Preliminary Round earned her a spot at nationals, making her the first women’s distance runner from the University of North Dakota (UND) to achieve this milestone. Her time of 32:06.70, which shattered the school record and set a new Canadian U23 record, has positioned her as a formidable competitor in the field. Keeler will also represent Canada in the upcoming Junior Pan American Games.

Frida Giersdorff has made history as well, competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Regional for two consecutive years. Her personal best of 10:41.44 secured her place, demonstrating her significant improvement and athletic dedication.

Meanwhile, Malene Kollberg excelled in the heptathlon at the Summit League Outdoor Championships, scoring 5,067 points to clinch gold. Jory Vasek, earning a silver medal in the 400 meters, also showcased his remarkable talent, having already set a new school record in the same event.

All four athletes have maintained impressive GPAs, with Kollberg achieving a perfect 4.0. Keeler leads the group with a GPA of 3.97, while Vasek manages a solid 3.44.

As the outdoor season approaches its conclusion, Keeler and Kenna Curry prepare to leave their mark at the NCAA Championships, promising an exciting end to a remarkable season.
