University of North Dakota Women’s Golf Team Dominates at WIU Intercollegiate
SILVIS, Ill. – The University of North Dakota women’s golf team delivered an impressive performance at the WIU Intercollegiate, hosted at TPC Deere Run over the weekend. The Fighting Hawks not only took home the team title but also claimed the individual champion, showcasing their dominance throughout the event.
With a final score of 915 (+63), UND secured the overall team victory, finishing nine strokes ahead of runner-up Northern Iowa. Sophomore Kylie Warner clinched the individual title, marking her second top-5 finish of the season. Warner’s exceptional opening round featured a score of 69 (-2), the only sub-70 round in the entire tournament, allowing her to establish a new career low for 18 holes. Despite pressure from Western Illinois’ Olivia Kerr, Warner maintained her lead by shooting par on two of her last three holes, ultimately winning by a slender one-shot margin.
Fellow sophomore Gigi Lund also shone brightly, recording a personal-best 224 (+11) to finish third—a career-high placement and her third top-10 finish overall.
In a showcase of depth, five other Hawks finished in the top-20, with Emersyn Walker and Erin Johnson finishing tied for 13th at 238 (+25). Lily Bredemeier and Annika Jyrkas also performed well, securing the 18th spot with a score of 243 (+30), while Riley Crothers capped off the team’s top-20 presence at 244 (+31).
The Fighting Hawks will continue their competitive streak as they head to the Stampede at the Creek in Elkhorn, Nebraska, on Monday. For updates on the team’s journey, follow @UNDwgolf on social media or visit FightingHawks.com.
