SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of North Dakota (UND) women’s basketball team concluded its season with a decisive loss to top-seeded South Dakota State (SDSU) in the Summit League Tournament, falling 84-55 on Saturday at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. UND finished the season with a record of 12-19.

From the outset, the Jackrabbits established dominance, surging to a 22-11 lead after the first quarter, showcasing their offensive prowess with a shooting percentage of 61.5% (8-of-13). In contrast, the Fighting Hawks struggled, managing only 27.8% (5-of-18) from the field, with Kiera Pemberton scoring six points early on.

The second quarter saw SDSU maintain control, adding 12 points to UND’s 10, leading 34-21 at halftime. However, in the third quarter, the Hawks improved their offensive execution, scoring 19 points while shooting 42.9% (6-of-14), including 60% (3-of-5) from three-point range. Despite this resurgence, the Jackrabbits countered with a 26-point response, preserving a comfortable lead.

The final quarter sealed the matchup as SDSU outscored UND 24-15, effectively closing out the game with key shots. Kiera Pemberton emerged as the standout for UND, finishing with 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Mikayla Aumer and Nevaeh Ferrara Horne added six points each, while Fatima Ibrahim contributed nine rebounds and two points.

The Jackrabbits demonstrated offensive efficiency, finishing the game with 44.4% (32-of-72) shooting from the floor, while dominating the boards with a 54-26 rebounding advantage. They held a significant edge in points in the paint (42-12) and second-chance points (22-4).
