Former NDSU Football Player Sentenced for Drug Trafficking

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) — Colter Pritchard, a former North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison football player, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges. The sentencing took place on Thursday, with Pritchard also receiving three years of supervised release and a $200 fine for conspiracy to possess and distribute a controlled substance, as well as possession with intent to distribute.

Pritchard, arrested in February 2024, was linked to a drug trafficking operation that stretched from North Dakota to Arizona, with activities dating back to January 2023. Law enforcement discovered five kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle at the time of arrest.

Pritchard, who joined the Bison football team in 2014, was a standout athlete at Langdon Area High School, where he earned recognition as a first-team all-state running back during his senior year. This sentencing marks a significant fall from grace for the former athlete, highlighting the growing issue of drug-related offenses in the region.
