Thunder Display Grit in Intense Showdown Against Pacers in NBA Finals

The Oklahoma City Thunder showcased an impressive feat by reaching the NBA Finals, losing a maximum of just two consecutive games throughout the season. In Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers, they faced pressure, with the Pacers leading 2-1 in the series and aiming for a commanding 3-1 lead. However, the Thunder rallied for a 111-104 victory, with Coach Mark Daigneault praising it as a “great blood-and-guts win.”

Despite the Pacers being strong in clutch situations, Oklahoma City dominated in the fourth quarter, outscoring Indiana by 14 points, limiting them to just five points in the final minutes and forcing them to miss all eight of their three-point attempts. Star player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 35 points, turning the game around in the final moments. Jalen Williams added 27 points, while Chet Holmgren, despite injury concerns, contributed 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Despite only making three three-pointers, a season low, the Thunder capitalized at the free-throw line, hitting nine more shots than Indiana. Coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged the Pacers’ struggles with rebounds and defenses as pivotal factors in their loss.

Before the game, the Thunder adjusted their lineup, reinserting center Isaiah Hartenstein. Although they struggled initially, trailing by nine points, the Thunder’s reserves maintained the game within reach by halftime. Gilgeous-Alexander, despite facing tight defense, finally found his rhythm in the closing minutes, helping his team take the lead. The Thunder’s win evened the series at 2-2, with Game 5 scheduled for Monday in Oklahoma City. Carlisle expressed disappointment but remains hopeful, stating there are still three games left.
