Unknown Man Found Murdered in Jamestown

Jamestown, N.D., June 14, 1919 — A grim discovery was made yesterday evening in a boxcar on the Midland Continental railroad, where the body of an unidentified man was found, showing signs of a brutal murder. Authorities reported that the boxcar, which had originated from Nortonville, Wis., contained no identifying papers on the victim, who appeared to be around 50 years old and had a brown mustache. Tragically, his face was so badly mutilated that it was unrecognizable.

Upon investigation, blood was found between the rails, marking the gruesome location where the murder likely occurred. Nearby, a bloodied rock and a shirt wrapped in a newspaper were discovered, adding to suspicions of foul play. Authorities suspect robbery may have been the motive, as all the man’s pockets were turned inside out.

Doctors estimate the murder took place within the last 24 hours, but so far, no clues have emerged regarding the identity of the killer. As the investigation continues, law enforcement is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in this harrowing case.
